Idea Fair
Tween/Teen Flashlight Egg Hunt
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
We held this a week before easter and asked participants to bring their own flashlights. We bought 1000 pre-packed eggs with candy in them as well as extra prizes for those with the most eggs at the end. the evening included food and drinks too.
The way it has enhanced our Club's operation is by offering another event for one of the hardest demographics to engage, tweens and teens. This along side our other programming for these ages has meant more members stay at the Club once their kids are growing up and the tweens/teens feel like there is still more for them from the Club.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
We ran the following activities:
- The Floor is Lava - At the playground, they received pallets and a set time as a team to collect eggs. If they touched the floor, they were out
- Flip and go - flipped glow cups 180 and ran to collect any eggs hidden around the pool
- Glow games - Split into teams and played games with glow balls for extra eggs. eg: volleyball, over and under races
- Free for all hunt in a room
This was a huge hit with over 40 tweens/teens in attendance. Many made friends who they now enjoy our Club with and look forward to meeting up with at our other events.
