Unity in Action
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Wycliffe Cares, now in its fourth year, has become a cornerstone of compassion and support at Wycliffe Golf and Country Club. This program goes beyond mere financial aid; it embodies our club's commitment to caring for our staff as part of our family. The impact of Wycliffe Cares is profound, offering a safety net for employees facing life's unexpected challenges and enhancing the sense of community within our club.
The success of this initiative is evident in the overwhelming participation of our members, as seen in a recent golf event with 217 members taking part. This, along with the generous support from our five sponsors and the 160 members who have become sustaining contributors since June 2023, highlights the community's dedication to this cause.
Our ability to provide more support in grants than raised through fundraising efforts in the last 12 months is a testament to the program's effectiveness and the club's commitment. The significant increase in grant totals each year – from $6,660 in 2021 to $57,900 in 2023, and already $3,500 in January 2024 – showcases the growing impact and reach of Wycliffe Cares. This assistance, particularly in crucial areas like medical expenses, funeral costs, and housing issues, has been a lifeline for many, reinforcing the club's role as a supportive and caring employer.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Implementing Wycliffe Cares involved a thoughtful, community-centric approach. The program's easy-to-navigate and confidential online application process ensures that employees can seek help with dignity and privacy. The remarkable number of grants awarded – 23 in total, with 16 in 2023 alone, including a substantial $3,500 grant awarded in January – reflects the program's responsiveness and the real difference it makes in the lives of our employees. The response from our club members has been heartening. Their enthusiastic participation in fundraising events, like the successful golf event, and their ongoing financial support as sustaining members, demonstrate a deep-rooted commitment to the well-being of the Wycliffe family. Their actions speak volumes about the kind of community we've built here – one that values and supports each other through thick and thin. Wycliffe Cares is more than a program; it's a promise we keep every day to our employees. It's a tangible expression of our club's ethos of care and support, a message to our staff that they're valued and never alone in times of hardship. As we continue our journey with Wycliffe Cares, it stands as a shining example of what we can achieve when we come together in support of our own.
