How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
St. Andrew’s School (SAS) is an independent, K-5 elementary school located in Richmond’s Oregon Hill neighborhood, specifically for families with low incomes. The school has 95 students across all grades.
After collaborating with SAS on their Back-to-School Picnic in the fall, the Club invited the 5th grade class on a field trip to the Dominion Energy Charity Classic – a professional golf tournament on the PGA TOUR Champions played at The Country Club of Virginia.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The field trip made the SAS students VIPs for a day. They were provided a behind-the-scenes and hands-on tour to learn about the tournament and an opportunity to experience it as spectators with visits to the Fan Zone, Volunteer Village, and more.
The students were offered insightful meetings with a CCV Golf Professional, a PGA TOUR Meteorologist, and a PGA TOUR Media Communications Team Member to learn the scope of their jobs and career paths that are available in the golf and hospitality industries.
