Idea Fair
Water Gun Color War
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
This was not your typical water gun fight. Our Water Gun Color War was an event designed for all ages. We were located on the front lawn of our town club and had blown up barriers for the children to hide behind during the war. We used a Crayola color dye in the water to fill all the ammo for the war. This event not only included water guns, but we also threw in some water balloons for the kids that didn’t know how to use water guns yet. For the remainder of the time, we came back inside and did a color splatting craft for them to take home.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The idea was implemented in the month of July. We promoted this Youth Event to the membership through an eblast and newsletter that goes out to the entire membership. Parents were immediately interested in the program and began to ask more questions about how to make sure they had a spot.
Parents’ overall reaction to the Water Gun Color War was spectacular, they were so excited to see their kids out on the front lawn having fun and they were relieved that the water dye was a Crayola washable product. It was liked so much we will now be making it a yearly activity for those hot July days here in Georgia.
