Idea Fair
Whiskey Tasting Pop-Up
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Whiskey “Pop up” Tasting event- highlighting specialty bourbons as well as barrels of Cherokee bourbons we have been allocated
All clubs strive for membership satisfaction Cherokee implemented this “Pop Up” Bourbon Tasting- with short notice to the members it gave the opportunity for members to sign up for this event that normally do not get to attend due to limited availability. In order to please all membership, we have begun to do more “Pop Up” events where we will accommodate as many members as possible and provide different themes.
After marketing went out for this event, Chef Todd Kelly was able to put together education along with a brand professional to discuss the properties and history of the bourbons the members were trying.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Director of Culinary and Food and Beverage- Todd Kelly was able to gather some fantastic bourbons for the tasting portion of this event as well as additional bourbons for a bourbon bar and a beginning cocktail of “Chef’s Old Fashioned”. The catering team put together a tasting “mat” for the members to identify which bourbons they were drinking, and the culinary team put together some “lite bites” that paired well with the bourbons.
Overall, the membership was extremely pleased, and it resulted in the formation of some private bourbon tasting events as well as more Bourbon “pop ups”!
“Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to future bourbon (and other) tasting events. As usual, chef Kelley went above and beyond going to find another bottle of Weller 12 at the end of the evening for a small group of members who were chatting about how much they enjoyed this bourbon.”
“This was an absolute blast. I'll be signing up for any future ones that I can make and will tell everyone I know to do the same. It was awesome.”
