Wine Vintage Card

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Choosing wine, whether in a store or off of a wine list, can be daunting. Some relish the experience, while others live in perpetual fear of choosing the “wrong” bottle or vintage for the occasion or menu. So, for those who experience that trepidation, or even those who just want to be slightly more educated, Fiddler’s decided to lend a helping hand through a wine vintage card.

This laminated card, miniature and discreet enough to fit into a pocket, provides a “cheat sheet” of which wines are perfect for the occasion. Organized by varietal, the card lists which vintages are ready for consumption. It also provides some notes on exceptional vintages that may enable our members to impress their company a little extra. It is not uncommon to see members with the wine list in one hand, discreetly referring to the card in the other before making a selection. When our wine steward does notice, he just grins and accepts the order with pride.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

We've implemented the Vintage Wine Card by providing it for all our Wine Club Members. We also distribute the Vintage Wine Card at all of our Wine Dinners and in the dining room to members that have a passion for wines.
