Idea Fair
Yoga for Bros
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Woodfield’s Yoga for Bros is a specialty yoga class designed for males. The goal was to create a class that would put unlikely yoga participants at ease with a less intimidating class structure. Participants are encouraged to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable and are free to talk if they would like. It is a modified stretching session with yoga poses that help participants improve their mobility, stability, balance and range of motion. Improvement in these areas can translate to better performance on the golf course and tennis court, which helps attract our sport-loving members to this class.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Yoga for Bros appeals to a set of members who wouldn’t typically seek out a group yoga class by being somewhat casual in nature and the reaction has been tremendous. Members have commented that it is a fun, comfortable and exciting class. Others have commented that they are seeing improvement in their golf and/or tennis performance. The class is held each Tuesday evening during season, and on average, 25 participants attend each week. Once a month, the class transitions to a Specialty Brews & Yoga for Bros class. Participants arrive early to enjoy additional socializing with an assortment of cold beer and nuts prior to class.
