Featured Strategy: Chapter Resources for Handling COVID-19
Over the past two weeks, we have shared CMAA’s response to COVID-19 and the cancellations of CMAA programs through the end of May. We know you are leading and managing through very challenging situations. Our thoughts are with you and your Chapters during this unprecedented public health crisis. We’ve compiled a list of CMAA resources to help you manage through this time

Survey Results: The most senior member at each club received a survey earlier last week on how this pandemic is impacting clubs. You can view the results here. As we work to support you and capture the impact of this national pandemic, our research efforts will continue on a twice monthly basis. The next survey is open through March 29 – Complete the Employee Compensation and Scenario Planning Survey. We are asking for only one response per club. Please participate here.

CMAA Webinars: A series of webinars has been put together to address best practices and answer important questions during this public health crisis. Please stay tuned to CMAA communications for future webinars and registration links. Archives of the webinars and accompanying PowerPoint PDFs are available to all CMAA members on CMAA University.

Let’s Talk Club Management Podcast: The March episode of CMAA’s podcast is all about crisis communication and emergency management. We share an interview with CMAA National Director Joe Krenn, CCM, CCE, as he draws on his experience to discusses best practices, communication strategies, and key concepts to lead your organization under pressure. Additionally, we cover pertinent CMAA updates related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CMAA Connect Communities: Our online community platform, CMAA Connect, has become the hub for sharing experiences and resources among members. The Best Practices Exchange has a number of discussion threads dedicated to COVID-19 and how clubs are managing through and complying with the ever-evolving landscape. If you’re looking for answers to specific questions or are curious about how your peers are handling this event, Connect is the place to start.

Cmaa.org/beprepared: For several weeks now, CMAA has been maintaining a page on our website dedicated to housing the most up-to-date resources from the World Health Organization, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, OSHA, as well as club-specific resources among others. This page is being updated as new guidance and regulations are implemented.

In addition to these resources, all CMAA members will be receiving a weekly communication from CEO Jeff Morgan, FASAE, CAE. This email will summarize all webinars and/or new resources that were completed within the current week as well as what you can expect for the upcoming week. We hope you will find these consolidated email communications valuable and use the resources as you see fit.

Chapter Management Resources

All Officers:
Were you a 2019 Chapter President? If so, please fill out the President’s Annual Report form if you haven’t already done so.

Managing Directors: Please look at your chapter’s website and make sure that all forms, dues structures, contact information, etc., are up to date. Please also make sure that all links are active and land on current information. Since your website is the first thing a prospective member may see, it’s important for them to have a pleasant experience on your site.

Career Services Chairman: To support your chapter members is as important now as ever. Day-to-day changes in routine can knock anyone off balance. To help keep them centered and positive, encourage members to contact CMAA's Coaches, Kevin MacDonald and Shelley MacDougall and set up a one-on-one session by phone. Call the CMAA Coaching Hotline at 866-822-3481 to begin. Be sure to also sign up for Coaching Newsletter.

The Club Foundation Liaison: A Texas-sized thank you to all Chapters that donated to the 2020 Wine Society/Club Foundation auction at World Conference and Club Business Expo in Grapevine, TX. Thanks to your efforts, we raised nearly $94,000 through the auction. A special toast goes to the Florida Chapter, for donating wine and collecting cash donations from their members, which totaled nearly $9,500.

Proceeds from the auction benefit The Club Foundation and support CMAA Wine Society initiatives on an annual basis. The Club Foundation uses these funds to financially support the club management profession through education, research, and outreach initiatives.

Communications Chairman: CMAA Members are sharing great ideas on how they are serving their members in our new reality. We are #CMAAStrong - use this hashtag to share your ideas and show you’re a proud club management professional.

Legislative Chairman: Emergency sick and family leave, employer tax credits, and extended unemployment benefits were included in the final HR6201, passed on Wednesday, March 18. Review the full breakdown of the bill on the Legislative Report

Membership Chairman: From April 1-August 31, all new members will pay $250 for their national dues (half-year, half-dues). This dues structure can be found on the “Join Page” by clicking on the “National Dues Structure” link

Professional Development Chairman: Last chance! Please forward any speaker recommendations to David McCabe. The invitation to submit speaker proposals for the 2021 Conference will be sent out in a few weeks. Please share any new and innovative speakers that may have spoken at your Chapter lately. The Professional Development team is tasked with selecting at least 40 percent first-time Conference speakers every year. This would not be possible without the great recommendations that the chapters provide.

Research: As we work to support you and capture the impact of this national pandemic, our research efforts will continue on a twice monthly basis. Visit www.cmaa.org/beprepared for the March 24 Research Report – How Clubs Are Addressing COVID-19 and to complete the Employee Compensation and Scenario Planning Survey (One Response Per Club).

Student Chapter Liaison: CMAA’s online platform, Connect, has been a place for club managers from all over the world to network and share ideas, as well as a place for HQ to get information out to our members. Last week we created a page specifically for our Student Members and Faculty Advisors.

With universities being closed, our students have been having a hard time figuring out different ways to stay involved in their student chapter and with local clubs. Connect is a great place for our students to engage with different student chapters and see how they are staying connected through a pretty solitary time. Managers are welcome to poke around in the Student and Faculty Community pages and be as engaged as they’d like, as well.

Wine Society Liaison: Congratulations to the 2020 Bucky Award Winners! Thank you to all the Chapters that donated to this year’s Auction, which raised nearly $94,000. The proceeds from the auctions benefit The Club Foundation and support the CMAA Wine Society initiatives on an annual basis. The Club Foundation uses these funds to financially support the professional development of club managers through education, training, and research initiatives.
