Join us for the 2020 Virtual Leadership/Legislative Conference, September 9-10, and get ready for a new experience, with no travel required. You will find the same refreshing content designed specifically for CMAA leaders – past, present, and future. This event will keep you current and pivoting like the challenges of 2020 demand.

Learn from a full slate of experts, including our keynote speakers:

Business Performance Expert Ryan Estis understands the challenges business leaders and top performers face, because he’s been in their shoes. He spent 15 years helping companies connect with employees and customers as an ad agency executive, building a client roster of category leading brands. Nine years ago, he decided to put that experience into practice and launch is own research and learning organization. Ryan is afforded an inside look at what the world’s best companies do differently and he shares that insight by helping clients initiate change, improve performance, and deliver growth.

Political Analyst David Wasserman is the US House editor and quantitative election analyst for the non-partisan Cook Political Report. Founded in 1984, the Cook Political Report provides analyses of presidential, Senate, House, and gubernatorial races. The New York Times called the Cook Political Report “a newsletter that both parties regard as authoritative.” Wasserman analyzes the current political environment in lively and entertaining presentations that he can tailor to his audiences’ specific interests or locales. His data-driven forecasting looks at both national and local trends, the relationship between consumer brand loyalty and voting, and what the future holds for American elections.

Other interactive sessions will include Communications and Marketing and Building Your Membership & Chapter Brand/Value. Optional breaks will feature a Coaching Gym and Chair Yoga, designed for any fitness level.

Learn and network with other Chapter Officers:

Chapter Management Resources

All Officers:
The 2021 membership year is just around the corner. Now is the time to start approaching individuals who may be interested in serving on your chapter’s board next year. New people equal new ideas. Start your search today! Consider including an article in your next newsletter asking potential candidates to express their interest in serving on your board.

Managing Directors: As we approach membership renewal season, please let us know if your members are on the move. Please send any updates to Erica Benjamin. Thank you.

Career Services Chairman: CMAA publishes an Interim Management Service (IMS) list to assist clubs that are in need of immediate temporary management personnel. This online listing contains the names and qualifications of those CMAA members who wish to and are available to fulfill various interim management positions.

Chapter members who have retired, but still wish to stay active in the club industry, or members who find themselves between club positions, may add themselves to the list here.

Contact Karen Woodie with any questions.

Communications/Public Relations Chairman: The Chapter Style Guide is your usage guide for your Chapter’s and CMAA’s logo along with other CMAA brand logos, and member recognitions. Updated annually, this guide provides practical information including official colors (CMYK, PMS, RGB, and Hex Values), spacing, and more.

Legislative/Advocacy Chairman: Impact of the Presidential Executive Orders on Employee Payroll Tax Relief and Unemployment

Membership Chairman: All members that join in the month of August receive a complimentary Education-Only badge for an upcoming World Conference on Club Management. Please let prospective members know about this great incentive!

Professional Development Chairman: CMAA began issuing digital badges so members with the Certified Club Manager (CCM) and Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designations can display their accomplishments. Digital badges also provide prospective employers a way to verify one’s professional accomplishments since the only way one can receive a digital badge is for CMAA to verify and issue them. Soon, there will be badges for BMI courses as well. This will enable those working toward their CCM designation to show their progress toward the credentials.

Members eligible for CCM and CCE badges were sent an invitation to create a profile with Credly, CMAA’s badge partner. Once they register, they will be able to access and share their badges. Please forward any questions that your members may have regarding badges to David McCabe.

Research Chairman: Are you looking for a virtual chapter education session for this fall or 2021? Consider zooming in CMAA Research and GGA Partners.

Starting in 2018, CMAA partnered with GGA Partners to present education sessions to chapters on the topic of business intelligence and data driven decision making. Our goal is to connect the dots between the resources available to CMAA members and GGA Partner’s expertise in data analytics to assist managers to make better decision within their club operations.

The presentation is interactive (even virtually) and ties in nicely with CMAA’s expanded competency area: Accounting, Finance and Data Analytics. Presentations are customized to include current research from both organizations and are customized to each region.

There is no speaker fee and as part of our partnership. We are booking chapter visits for the remainder of this year and into 2021. Please contact Sarah Bal if your chapter would be interested.

Student Chapter Liaison: Every month, CMAA will be hosting two or more Zoom calls with one of our managers or coaches discussing a topic of their choice with 15 students. Encourage your student chapters to keep an eye out on the discussion board in the Student Member Community with updates on when these will be taking place. These calls will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so make sure students frequent this page to jump on the opportunity! Coming up, we have:

• Coaching Session: Making Mistakes – August 20 at 2:00 p.m. EDT with Kevin MacDonald and Shelley MacDougall

• How City Clubs Are Different – August 25 at 1:00 p.m. EDT with John Samayoa, CCM

• 5 Keys to 5 Promotions – September 8 at 12:00 p.m. EDT with Amanda Day, CCM

Either post on the Connect page or email Christina Krueger to sign up for these calls.

Wine Society Liaison: Entries and applications are now being accepted for the Wine Society Wine Program Awards and the 2020 Warren Arseneaux Scholarship. The deadline for both has been extended to October 1, 2020. More details on how to submit your entry and applications can be found on the Wine Society website.
