Use Your Network
“You only get out of it what you put into it.” This quote is true for many aspects of your personal and professional life, and it also pertains to your CMAA membership. It is particularly true when it comes to networking. CMAA affords you copious opportunities to connect and network with your fellow club management peers locally, nationally, and internationally. Below are some ways you can build or expand on your network:
Connect at a local Chapter event. Local networking is an effective way to keep your finger on the pulse of local club news and important updates in the club industry. If you don’t know where to start, building your network locally is a great place. These are the individuals you will be around most often while attending Chapter events and people you can call on if you ever have issues or need advice.
Connect at a National Event. CMAA holds many events Nationally each year: the World Conference and Club Business Expo, Business Management Institutes, Leadership/Legislative Conference, Mid-Management Conference, and various Summits to name a few. Take time to meet new people and make connections. You never know when your paths might cross in the future.
Connect Online via CMAA Connect. If you haven’t explored CMAA’s Connect platform, now is the time! This networking platform instantly connects you with thousands of like-minded individuals. Share ideas or ask questions in the “Best Practices Exchange.” Do you work at a yacht club, city club, or HOA/POA? There are specific groups you can join within Connect to connect with members who also manage these types of clubs. When you are logged into CMAA’s website, you are automatically logged into CMAA Connect, so there is no need for an additional username and password. Check it out today!
Connect with CMAA’s National Staff. CMAA’s day-to-day operations are conducted by a team of 30 association professionals. They are here to connect with you and assist you in any way they can. You will see various team members at all CMAA National events, and most are on site at CMAA’s World Conference and Club Business Expo.
Networking is a powerful tool; it can help you build a valuable support system that will be with you throughout your career. Make sure you take advantage of all the networking opportunities that CMAA affords you.
