Join the Club Wellness Community for a Trends Webinar

Join us on Thursday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. EDT for a discussion of the 2023 Wellness Trends revealed by the Global Wellness Institute that can serve as a guide to clubs on how to enhance your wellness offerings for both experiential and financial benefits.

A preview of takeaways from 2023’s 12 Wellness Trends identified: Rigorous, international research unveils that the long, thoughtful pause forced by the pandemic has transformed the very idea of “wellness.” People are now more reflective, they seek more science, they’re less selfish (more concerned about each other and the planet) and want solutions that are meaningful and work.

The discussion will be led by seasoned experts in the wellness space–Kim Marshall, Host & Executive Producer of the Global Wellness Conversation’s Podcast & Co-Founder, S’Well The Agency, and Kim DeOrsey, President, CoverWell by Injectsure, and expert in club operations, treatment protocol, risk management and marketing.

Membership and Member Benefits

Have You Managed the Same Club for 25 Years?

Have you been in a management position at your club for 25 or more consecutive years? If so, we would first like to commend you on the dedication and hard work that you have committed to the industry. Secondly, we would like to extend our invitation for you to be a member of CMAA’s 25-Year Club.

Membership in the 25-Year Club is open to “any member of CMAA who shall have been the manager of the same bona fide club for 25 consecutive years.” Managers are invited to become members upon receipt of statements of eligibility from their clubs. There are no dues or admission fees; the purpose of the club is to promote special relations among its members.

With more than 70 current members, we look forward to welcoming even more inductees. New members to the 25-Year Club are recognized at each World Conference. If you meet the eligibility requirements, please contact Erica Benjamin for further information.

The CMAA Verified Internship Program is Live

CMAA has developed a Verified Internship Program to elevate and streamline club internship offerings. Because clubs differ widely in their membership size, culture, and offerings, it may be difficult for students to know exactly what they can expect from their internship experience. This verified internship criteria helps manage the expectations of students, faculty, and managers, and holistically showcases what a career in the club industry looks like.

Interested in having your club’s internship program recognized as a CMAA Verified Internship? Access the program criteria and learn more online.

Help Get the Word out that Clubs are Open and looking for New Team Members

CMAA members have identified the recruitment of employees as a top challenge. CMAA wants to help by providing a no cost job board aimed at filling entry-level, hourly wage jobs.

This job board—Entry-Level Opportunities—posts jobs by state and then by club, making it easy to navigate. The form lists information about the club and then the specific job. Applicants apply by the email provided in the listing. Anyone looking for a job can access the listing.

List jobs that are open at your club. You may list as many jobs as you like. Ads run for six weeks and can be renewed. Job types include full-time, part-time, seasonal, and holiday positions. CMAA Members login first; Non-members need to register before beginning the process.

The job boards are just one of the many benefits of your association with CMAA. If you need more information on any of the boards or if you have any questions about CMAA ClubCareers, please contact Karen Woodie.

Benchmark Your Employee Demographics with the Club Assessment

Your club is invited to participate in the Club Employee Demographic Assessment. This research survey presented with support from CMAA and The Club Foundation, will provide a baseline and snapshot of the demographics across the club industry. This three-year project will enable your club to benchmark your changing demographics over time.

Your club's participation and information are confidential. Please submit one response per club. You will gain insight into your team’s diversity and assist in formulating your own DEI strategy and tactics. Your club's participation in this assessment will provide data to help CMAA build education and resources to help clubs recruit and retain diverse talent, making it attractive for everyone to choose to work in clubs.

Thank you in advance for your club's participation in this important initiative!

In addition, CMAA and USPTA are looking for data regarding the education and certification of professional tennis/racquet sports staff.

Courts Halt 2023 WOTUS Rule in 26 States

The new 2023 Waters of the United States (WOTUS) has been temporarily enjoined from becoming effective in 26 states, as of the outcome of two separate lawsuits. On December 30, the Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corps of Engineers announced the final rule. Despite calls from the regulated community and our coalition partners with the Waters Advocacy Coalition for a rule that provides the clarity and certainty essential for predictable and efficient permitting, the final rule continues to rely on vague terms will make it difficult for any business or individual trying to comply with the Clean Water Act. It became effective March 20, 2023. However, two separate legal actions will temporarily prevent its enforcement in 26 states.
