Shine a Spotlight on a Deserving Club Management Professional
Annually, Club Management magazine recognizes excellence in club leadership with the Club Executive of the Year Award. Originally known as the Club Manager of the Year, this distinction was created in 1985 by Club Management magazine to honor an individual who by his or her achievements best represents the qualities found in hard-working, dedicated club management leaders. In 2008, the award was re-titled to mirror the evolution of the role of a club management professional.
Nominate a club management professional who embodies professionalism at their club and within the CMAA community. CMAA welcomes and encourages nominations from diverse backgrounds and work experiences.
2022 Nominations should include specifics on how the nominee embraces:
- Mentoring;
- Creating a club culture which supports the staff team through on-going educational opportunities and crisis assistance; and
- Demonstrating sustained engagement with their local CMAA Chapter.
To nominate a CMAA member, please access the submission guidelines. Nominations must be received by September 23.
Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of CMAA members and past recipients of the award and evaluated based on the enumerated criteria above. The Club Executive of the Year winner will be profiled in a forthcoming edition of Club Management magazine, an episode of the Let’s Talk Club Management Podcast, and honored in-person at the CMAA 2023 World Conference and Club Business Expo in Orlando, FL.

Club Management Is All in the Family
The Club Foundation is mounting a new fundraising campaign that will run from August 5–September 15. The campaign was inspired by the numerous individuals who have family members working in the industry. This prevalence is part of a larger story about our industry. You and your teams regularly go above and beyond for your members, but you also go above and beyond for one another, ensuring as much success as possible for each member of your work family.
Create an online fundraising team of your own family or work family, and together we will raise funds to support scholarships and grants. Every dollar contributed is critical to our ability to provide support to team members across the country. Thank you for everything you do every day for your members, your team, your family, and our industry!
- Campaign Goal: $5,000
- Campaign Page: https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/CFFamily
- Quick & Easy Donation: Text CFFamily to 71777
A bag of goodies will be mailed to the individual who raises the most dollars. Bragging rights go to the team with the highest number of donations and the team with the most dollars raised.

Closing Today: Submit Your Data to the 2022 Finance and Operations Survey
Friday, August 5 is the last chance to submit your data for the 2022 CMAA Finance and Operations Survey. To allow for easy survey completion as well as customized reporting tools for you and your staff, the study is hosted and maintained by Industry Insights on the CMAA Research Portal.
Acting on your member feedback, CMAA has made participation easier than ever by providing clubs with the following options for participation:
- The form is available for completion online or via an Excel form that may be completed offline then uploaded to the system when complete.
- Utilize our Excel based Chart of Accounts template and upload an Excel version of your year-end Trial Balance.
- Club software providers (Clubessential, Jonas, and Northstar) have provided the option for you to transfer your trial balance data directly to CMAA Research Portal.
For those clubs choosing to upload or transfer their trial balance data, CMAA again has engaged GGA Partners to map participating clubs' charts of accounts to the CMAA Finance and Operations form. More information about this service can be found in the CMAA Research Portal. It's anticipated that this option will significantly reduce the amount of time required to complete the survey.
As a participant, you will receive a complimentary copy of the industry report plus an Individual Club Report, with your own club’s financial and operating statistics reported alongside the appropriate industry comparatives. Club Resource Center subscribers, who participate in the survey, will also receive access to an online portal for interactive industry comparatives.
The deadline for participation is today, August 5. If you have any questions, please contact Greg Manns at 614-389-2100 ext. 108 or Amilcar Davy, CMAA's Director of Research, at 703-739-9500.
