2024 Club Executive of the Year: Call for Nominations
Annually, Club Management magazine recognizes excellence in club leadership with the Club Executive of the Year Award. Originally known as the Club Manager of the Year, this distinction was created in 1985 by Club Management magazine to honor an individual who by his or her achievements best represents the qualities found in hard-working, dedicated club management leaders. In 2008, the award was re-titled to mirror the evolution of the profession.
Today, the distinction highlights one club management professional annually who demonstrates mentoring, creates a supportive club culture, and sustains ongoing engagement with their local CMAA Chapter.
CMAA welcomes and encourages nominations from diverse backgrounds and work experiences.
2024 Nominations must include specifics on how the nominee fosters and embraces:
- Mentoring;
- Creating a club culture which supports the staff team through on-going educational opportunities and crisis assistance; and
- Demonstrating sustained engagement with their local CMAA Chapter.
Help us honor an extraordinary club management professional who has truly raised the bar in club management and within the CMAA community.
All Nominations must be received by September 10.

Power Up Your Donation
Each year, more than one-third of CMAA members donate to support scholarships and grants. The generosity of our donors is tied to a powerful notion, the idea that we have a purpose that goes beyond self to the growth and development of others in our industry, and the industry itself.
Donations make a significant difference in our ability to fulfill our mission and in addition to general donations, there are several ways to make your impact even greater:
- Make your donation recurring. By committing to giving ongoing support, you can help us to ensure success in the future. Make a monthly commitment by choosing “monthly” on our online donation form and choose your own dollar amount. Even donating $5 per month adds up over time to make a real difference for scholarship and grant recipients.
- Donate Stocks and/or Securities. By donating stocks or securities, you can avoid the capital gains taxes that result from liquidation and potentially get a bigger tax deduction for your contributions.
- Donate through Planned Giving. Join the Legacy Society by donating through bequests, wills, your IRA, trusts, or insurance policies. Your gift will propel The Club Foundation into the future and leave a legacy of support for scholarship and grant recipients well into the future.

Protect Your Team This Summer
Clubs throughout the country have already experienced record high temperatures this summer. OSHA provides tools and resources for employers to train employees and supervisors to manage heat risk. Check out these resources on the Legislative Report:
OSHA-NIOSH Heat Safety Tool App: Use this app to plan outdoor work activities based on how hot it feels throughout the day. It has a real-time heat index and hourly forecasts specific to your location. It also provides occupational safety and health recommendations from OSHA and NIOSH. Available in Android and Apple versions.
Heat and Health Index: This new dashboard was unveiled in May. It includes tracking for heat and worker health showing the rate of work-related injuries and illnesses.
Guidance for Creating a Heat Illness Prevention Plan: Make sure your supervisors are trained in understanding and recognizing heat hazards.
Workplace Training Posters and Infographics in English and Spanish: Ensure your club team members can understand risks and take preventative actions.

OSHA Unveils Proposed Heat Stress Rule
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has proposed new regulations to prevent heat injury and illness in both indoor and outdoor work settings. Clubs will be required to create and implement a heat hazard evaluation and control plan specific to their locations, monitor heat conditions, develop heat emergency response plans, conduct annual training, and maintain records of indoor monitoring data. The proposed rule establishes heat index triggers at 80 and 90 degrees, each with specific employee accommodations and control measures.
