Offered in the fall, the Mid-Management Conference began as a grassroots effort in 1991 by the Greater Chicago Chapter to provide quality educational and networking opportunities for club management professionals who do not serve in the general manager/chief operating officer role. Got Olympic Fever? Add BMI International to Your Fall Agenda

Presented in conjunction with the Club Management Association of Europe (CMAE), BMI International, an educational and cultural experience designed specifically for club management professionals, is heading to Switzerland, October 14-19. Experience four days in Lausanne and three days in Zurich.

The rich program agenda features an evening at the International Olympic Committee’s official Olympic Museum in Lausanne, where you can relive great Olympic moments and feel the pulse of the champions.

You should receive your first 2025 membership renewal notice in the mail very soon. Payment is due no later than October 31, 2024. Please consider an early payment to avoid additional notices and any late fees that may be assessed.

Please be sure to verify your personal, club, and chapter information. You can make any necessary changes by logging into your profile and updating your information.

Save time and renew online with your credit card by logging into your online profile and going to “My Invoices.” We are looking forward to another incredible year!

 

 

Congratulations to the Joe Perdue Scholarship Recipients

Key to the mission of The Club Foundation to support the club industry, is to award scholarships and grants to students pursuing a career in the club industry. The Joe Perdue Scholarship provides hospitality students the opportunity to apply for tuition dollars for their undergraduate work. The scholarship is named after long-time CMAA professional Joe Perdue, CCM, CHE, who was an asset and powerhouse in clubs, at CMAA, and at the University of Nevada and Georgia State University. He served on various boards throughout the industry including The Club Foundation Board of Governors. Most notably, he was responsible for developing and sustaining CMAA’s Business Management Institutes.

Ten undergraduate students seeking to build their careers in the club industry are each being awarded $5,000 for tuition and fees. Learn more about the Joe Perdue Scholarship. Hearty congratulations to the 2024 recipients:

Your Accessibility Questions Answered

Ensuring your members and guests feel welcome and comfortable is a top priority for clubs. What about members and guests with disabilities? Recently, CMAA Headquarters has received several questions regarding defining access and what the club’s obligations are under the Americans with Disabilities Act:

  • Does a club need to provide a single-rider golf car?
  • Can a create access policies for all golf cars, applicable to all, including single-rider and/or adaptive cars in inclement weather?
  • How should club staff handle members or guests who request accommodation?

Lego Designer Looks to Create First Official Golf-Themed Set

Lego has been selling interlocking plastic bricks for more than 50 years. During this time, the Lego Group has produced numerous themed sets that celebrate various aspects of popular culture. Interestingly, one notable omission from Lego's repertoire has been golf-themed sets. However, this might be about to change soon as a Berlin-based designer seeks to create the first official themed set that will feature the green of the 18th hole and a clubhouse including a lounge, pro shop, trophy room, and restaurant.
