It’s Scholarship Season! Apply Today

The Club Foundation is in the middle of its annual scholarship application and evaluation season. We are deeply grateful to all those who volunteer to serve as members of the Club Foundation Allocation Committee. This anonymous group of twelve individuals take their work very seriously, evaluating dozens of applications each year. There are several deadlines for application throughout the year and here are the two coming up next:

  • Faculty Grant Opportunity: August 1 Deadline
The Club Foundation places a priority on supporting students, faculty, and research in our industry. Accepted research projects receive support from the CMAA Research and Education departments and are considered for funding from The Club Foundation. Applications are reviewed and evaluated for approval by the CMAA Research Committee and awardees are required to submit an article for potential publication by CMAA.
  • Sally Burns Rambo Scholarship: September 1 Deadline
Sally Burns Rambo, CCM, was a pioneer who paved the way for the success of countless club industry leaders. To honor her memory and the legacy that she created, the Texas Lone Star Chapter initiated and still contributes each year to support the Sally Burns Rambo Scholarship. The program provides financial support to female club managers interested in furthering their professional development.

To access all grant programs and deadlines, please visit the Foundation’s apply page.

Graduated Seniors: Is it Time for You to Join as an Alumnus Member?

Congratulations to our graduating seniors! Have you secured a management position in the club industry? If so, it’s time to join CMAA as an Alumnus member.

Simply log into your CMAA account and join as an Alumnus member. Once the process is complete and your join date is established, your Alumnus years (you are eligible for the status for two years) count towards your six Professional years needed to be eligible to sit for the Certified Club Manager exam. Alumnus status is a Professional classification, the only difference is that you receive a dues break for the first two years of your membership, at which point you automatically change to a Professional member.

Congratulations once again! Please contact Alanna Eckard with any questions about joining as an Alumnus member.

Today is the Last Day to Complete the Club Employee Demographic Assessment

CMAA and The Club Foundation are collaborating on the Club Employee Demographic Assessment (CEDA) to help provide valuable information toward understanding the demographics of private club employees. CEDA represents a comprehensive and confidential tool for clubs to assess and benchmark themselves against other clubs. The deadline to complete this survey is June 28.

To encourage participation, we are offering a $100 Amazon gift card to 10 clubs that complete our survey. These 10 clubs will be selected randomly after the deadline and the gift cards will be delivered via email. To be eligible for the gift card drawing, your club must complete all the necessary sections. If selected, your club will be emailed the $100 Amazon eGift card code that can be used towards your staff.

Please take a moment to participate and help your club take steps toward adding value to your staff. Please reach out to Amilcar Davy with any questions.

Tell Us about Ethics in Club Management

Thank you to everyone that has participated in the Ethics in Club Management Survey. If you haven't yet participated, please complete the survey today.

Faculty researchers at Michigan State University have surveyed club management professionals in the United States several times over the past 35 years, first starting in 1989. They have used 15 scenarios to gauge the reactions of club executives to the ethicality of various activities that have occurred at some clubs in our industry.

They are interested in learning what club executives think about the ethicality of the scenarios and whether you, the respondent, might personally engage in the stated action. Further, they are interested in learning who or what has most influenced the values held by contemporary club executives. Your participation in this research is completely voluntary and you may refuse to answer any question and withdraw at any time. Complete the survey.

Your support of this research is encouraged, and the results will be shared in future CMAA publications. If you have any questions, please contact Amilcar Davy, CMAA's Director of Research, at 703-739-9500.
