Student & Faculty Chapter Idea Fair
CMAA Untapped! Ideas Unleashed
University of North Texas Student Chapter
Entry Details
Dr. Kim Willliams, The UNT CMAA Chapter Faculty Advisor, worked with the CMAA North Region - Texas Lone Star Chapter President, Heather Crutcher, to host their April 2024 meeting on campus. CMAA Managers were asked to bring a Club item for door prizes for students. We provided a free lunch and a structured program for managers to engage students on their personal Club journey, Club careers, internships, and mentorships. Dr. Williams posed questions to the group and allotted time for managers and students to discuss the prompts. Also, the University mascot, Scrappy the Eagle, stopped by to greet managers and students. UNT Graduate student, Monica Appiah, designed the flyer that showcased our event.
Implementation
We held the lunch on the UNT Denton campus. It was very successful! Students were able to learn more about clubs, get a free CMAA membership, speak one-on-one with managers, obtain jobs, and internships! We also used this lunch as an opportunity to showcase our hospitality program to CMAA managers. Students also loved the club hats, shirts, etc. that were provided as door prizes.
