Providing volunteer opportunities gives student chapter members valuable professional development experience in a real-world setting. Students can gain skills in customer service, communication, problem-solving, working with teams, and representing an organization. This looks great on a resume and allows students to network. It would provide professional development opportunities in an engaging environment. Members would likely appreciate the hands-on learning and networking. The hospitality role allows the chapter to be more involved with the senior CMAA Chapter and major local event.

Implementation

Our chapter collaborated with the senior chapter to reserve a set number of volunteer slots from the tournament organizer. The faculty advisors will send out an email flyer to all the college student, and CMAA officers will present the opportunity in class to encourage students to sign up.  Student members could sign up for shifts through a link that fit their schedule. One point will be awarded each hour for active membership.
