Student & Faculty Chapter Idea Fair

The Giving Vine: A Night of Wine and Generosity

Johnson & Wales University, NC, Chapter

Entry Details

Universities are home to many clubs/organizations that seek to build involvement and grow student satisfaction, but limited funding exists towards these organizations because there are so many to financially support. Within these bounds, it leaves many to learn to fundraise on their own. The Club Management Association of America offers many opportunities for aspiring students to engage in networking and career opportunities. However, to participate in opportunities such as the annual CMAA World Conference or the Student Conference, significant funds must be raised to support students. The JWU Charlotte CMAA student chapter proposes a solution with a wine and tasting program that will provide funding towards student chapters. This program will allow students to not only fundraise, but provide unique opportunities for networking, develop project planning skills, and connect with the community to build public relationships with the university.

Implementation

Chapters can partner with local wine cellars to create custom labelled bottles to sell. The launch of this fundraiser will involve a food and wine pairing with these custom bottles. The university will offer tickets from $50-60 to participate at the tasting. The tasting will be led by one of our universities' wine professors/sommeliers, and after the event donors will be offered the ability to purchase those custom labelled wine bottles with profits contributing to CMAA chapter funds. Also, people can buy bottles through the separate fundraising website with a portion of sales going back to CMAA chapter.
